NIACC Student Office 365 Download Instructions
Information and Background
With NIACC’s license agreements with Microsoft, students and educators can sign up for Office 365 Education for free, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and now Microsoft Teams, plus additional tools.

Limitations
To keep your free license active, you need to connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days on each device with the application(s) installed. Your copy of Office will remain active as long as you maintain your status as a student. Once you graduate or leave the college, you will have the opportunity to keep using the software by paying for a license directly from Microsoft.
Accessing Office 365 Download through NIACC student email
1. From the NIACC webpage found at http://www.NIACC.edu and choose the ‘TrojanHome’ link at the top of the page.

- Sign in to your NIACC student account, if required.
- Here, you will see a list of the applications in Microsoft Office. Click Install Office

- Follow the on screen prompts to install Office - the software to install software to computer.

- After Office is installed, when prompted to log in, use your NIACC email address and password. Your copy of Office will remain active as long as you maintain your status as a student. Once you graduate or leave the college, you will have the opportunity to keep using the software by paying for a license directly from Microsoft.
Keep Your License Active
Each day, or each time the user logs on to their computer, the computer connects to the Activation and Validation Service to verify the license status and extend the product key. As long as the computer can connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days, Office remains fully functional. If the computer goes offline for more than 30 days, Office enters reduced functionality mode until the next time a connection can be made. In reduced functionality mode, Office 365 remains installed on the computer, but users can only view and print their documents. All features for editing or creating new documents are disabled, and the user sees a message like the following:

Click ‘Sign In’, when prompted enter your Username@my.NIACC.edu address and password.
