CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WITH NIACC’S WIFI
North Iowa Area Community College’s wireless network (WiFi) is available to all students and employees in all buildings (including Student Housing) and most green areas of the College. (There are NO Ethernet ports\jacks in the Student housing rooms.)
- NIACC (Student / Staff / Faculty)
- This wireless segment provides a secure and persistent wireless connection for NIACC faculty, staff and students' personally owned computers, phones, etc. To connect to the NIACC wireless segment, (a) select the segment from your devices Wi-Fi configuration, (b) enter your NIACC username (the part of the MyNIACC login ID before the ‘@my.NIACC.edu’) and password, and (c) choose to ‘Connect Automatically’. Once you authenticate to the ‘NIACC’ Wi-Fi network segment, you do not need to log in again, unless there is a change to your credentials. (Note that gaming systems and Smart TVs require a different wireless segment described below.)
- NIACC-GUEST (guests)
- Provides 8 hours of use after which, the device will be disconnected from the internet and must reconnect.
- This wireless segment provides an open (non-secure) wireless connection to the Internet for visitors to the campus. This segment requires authorization, via a web splash page, with your name, an email address, and a phone number each time the device comes on campus and includes an automatic expiration after a period of time. (Note that gaming systems and Smart TVs require a different wireless segment described below.)
- NIACC-DEVICES (for gaming consoles, Smart TVs, streaming players, and similar devices)
- This wireless segment provides a persistent wireless connection to the internet for gaming consoles, Smart TVs, streaming players, and similar devices. This segment does not require you to contact the NIACC Help Desk and provide specific information about the device to be connected. Only a WEP key (password) is required to join the segment. (This network is not encrypted and your device may be discoverable by others on the network segment.) WEP Key: Niacc2022 (as of August, 2022)
